What the hell is an Irish Battle Royal?

We are just a little over a week away from our one year anniversary event, Breakaway, where, for the first time ever in the United States, Peach State Wrestling will be presenting an Irish Battle Royal. Now, before you go and cry bullshit, because a lot of people pull the "never before seen" crap in wrestling, well, we can honestly say that nobody has ever seen this match this side of the Atlantic Ocean. The only federation that has ever held an Irish Battle Royal is a small fed out of England known as Ricochet Wrestling, and they've only held two.

The first one was held in 2006, and you can check out the Youtube video of it here, and the final one was held in 2009, and the video is found here. You might wonder how the hell Jody got the rights to have a match like this. Apparently, he called in a favor from an old friend of his, some guy named Rhoden, who owns his own network in England or something like that. Rhoden bought Ricochet at the end of it's life lock, stock, and barrel, and owns all the rights to it, so he asked for the match, and Rhoden let him have it.

Truth be told, I didn't know you could trademark a gimmick match, but apparently you can.

Now, I know there has been some questions about what the hell an Irish Battle Royal is, and I'm here to answer all your questions.

First, to get you in the right frame of mind, think about a Royal Rumble having a threeway with a Gauntlet Match, and an Iron Man Match. That's pretty much what you have with an Irish Battle Royal. It starts with ten challengers and one champion. The challengers are former Peach State Champion, Nick King, Brute Svenson, Whirlwind, the Peach State Tag Team Champions, Blaine Harrison and Mr. Krinkle, Finn Cambridge, returning superstars "The People's Choice" August Joyce and Dixie Leigh, the oldest contestant ever in an Irish Battle Royal, Matt Reynolds, and newcomer, Sebastian Montecelli with the champion of course being newly crowned champion, Griffin Hawkins.

It starts out as a royal rumble. Two challengers start things off, and every two minutes, a new challenger comes on out to join the party. During this time, the only way to eliminate someone is throwing them over the top rope. That's all well in good, until the sixteen minutes go by needed to get the rest of the eight challengers into the ring, because when the time hits eighteen minutes, here comes the champion, Griffin, down to the ring to enter the match.

Once Griffin steps into that ring, the match completely changes. You can't be eliminated by being thrown over the top rope anymore. From then on, the only way to be eliminated is by pinfall or submission.

Here's the catch though, no matter what happens to Griffin, he can't be eliminated yet. Everyone else can still be eliminated, and Griffin can get in on the action by eliminating people as well. This goes on until everyone is eliminated save for one last challenger and the champion.

These are the final two superstars left, and they will fight until only one walks away as the winner and the champion.

It will be an intense match-up and whoever walks out the winner will truly be deserving to be the Peach State Champion.

And if you're wondering when everyone will find out their spot in the rumble part of this match, I'll be randomly drawing your spots this Saturday at 3PM, live on here, so make sure you tune in for that.

Well, I hope you know what the hell an Irish Battle Royal is. This is Jaxson, signing off.
