Peach State Wrestling is better than World Wrestling Entertainment.
There, I said it.
Hell, if Vince has his way, I can't even say that Peach State Wrestling is better than World Wrestling Entertainment, because they want to take the Wrestling out of their name, and just refer to themselves as WWE. How stupid is that?
So, I went to Wrestlemania last night, and I'll say this, the atmosphere was amazing from beginning to end. From the "This is Awesome" chants during the Orton / Punk match to the "Holy Shit" chants during the Taker / Triple H match to the thunderous applause when The Miz kicked out of the Attitude Adjustment. Hell, even the booing of the church choir was off the chain. It really is like the Super Bowl. You just have to go to it once. It doesn't matter if it sucks, just being a part of it is really cool.
And yes, I know this isn't the WWE, this is PSW, but dammit, this is my blog and I'm going to start out with what I want to talk about first, and that's Wrestlemania. Overall, I liked it, but the parts I didn't like, I really didn't like. For example, the Lawler / Cole match. It was stupid to begin with, it went on way too long, when it should have just been Lawler kicking the shit out of Cole to make everyone happy, and then a Stunner for good measure, no more than 5 minutes. Hell, if that was the case, we could have seen Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan instead of missing out on them, or maybe the 8 man tag match could have lasted longer than 30 seconds. And the ending was complete bullshit. Followed by the main event. The entire show was fast paced...and they slow it way down with Cena / Miz. And the crowd let them know it too. There were no Cena fans in the building. None! And Miz had some fans, but not really too. So basically Wrestlemania was headlined by two people the crowd didn't like. And while I love The Miz getting the win, The Rock destroying both of them was stupid.
What I did like was Punk / Orton. To me, it was the match of the night. The crowd will tell you Triple H / Taker, but while I enjoyed it, it didn't have the same magic that Taker / HBK had. It seemed forced, and was the definition of a spotfest. However, I did enjoy it. I must say my biggest surprise was Snookie. I hate Jersey Shore, but that girl has some moves. My jaw hit the floor when she did that somersault handspring thingy. It was a great move and show she actually is athletic. There are some Divas that can't pull stuff off like that, so she impressed me with it.
OK, I'm done talking about Wrestlemania, let's talk Rise Today.
To start things off, Sean Saint was not in the building. He was recovering. Former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Michael "Snake Eyes" Cavenaugh came for a very special training session on Friday afternoon. And when I say former, I mean he lost it this week to fellow BACW superstar, Magnum Randell, so as you can imagine the man wasn't that happy about things, and it kind of showed in his training. I don't think anyone left the session without some bumps and bruises, and Saint got the worse of it with a dislocated shoulder that will put him out of action for awhile. Even with the injuries, the boys thought it was a great training session.
With Sean Saint out of action, Dixie Leigh was left without an opponent, so Jody decided to give her two, adding her to the Kidd Kaboom and another debuting superstar, Shane Dresden. Dixie got a great reaction from the crowd. She's fairly local, coming from Jacksonville, Florida, but on top of that, she hung around the crowd at Fight in Fayetteville, and got to know some of the fans, and in a crowd like this, that's one of the things they look for in someone to cheer for. Dresden only got a minor reaction from the crowd, but it was nothing compared to when Kidd Kaboom stepped out of the entrance. He may have lost the championship against Trenton Williams, but that doesn't matter to the fans, because they love this guy.
All three of them are in the ring, and there's nothing fancy about this three way dance. All three will be in the ring at the same time until someone gets pinned or submitted. And I loved how this match started, because there's no enemies here. No tension, just three people wanting to get closer to their goal of that championship gold. The three of them showed a great deal of respect, shaking hands with one another, and as soon as they did that, Matt motioned for the bell and the match was underway.
Kidd Kaboom and Shane Dresden immediately lock up, but as soon as they do, Dixie Leigh comes in driving a dropkick, connecting one foot to each, sending them both to the mat. Shane got back to his feet, and Dixie comes at him, leaping into the air, and connecting with a perfect hurricanrana, putting Shane onto his back, before he slides out of the ring landing on the floor. Dixie got back to her feet, right into a running clothesline by Kaboom that takes her down. However, Dixie doesn't stay down long, as she gets right back to her feet. Kaboom went for another clothesline, but Dixie ducks it, running to the opposite ropes. Kaboom comes back, and Dixie leaps into the air with a cross body. Kaboom caught her and turned into a powerslam. Kaboom went for the pin, but didn't get it as Dixie kicked out after one.
Kaboom got back to his feet and caught Dixie with a running knee to the side of her head, taking he down once again. Kaboom didn't slow down, as he went right into the ropes, only to come back with a measured knee drop. He drops down, covering Dixie, but only got another one count. Kaboom back to his feet, lifting Dixie up, but Dixie fought back, driving several blows into his chest, before leaping up, catching Kaboom with a perfect dropkick. Kaboom went to the mat. Dixie gets up, and runs to the ropes, coming back across, hitting a perfect rolling senton onto Kaboom. It's Dixie turn to cover the former champion, but she only gets a one count, as Shane Dresden grabs her foot and pulls her outside the ring, catching her with a giant right hand as soon as she is on her feet. Dixie drops to one knee, but Shane pulls her back up, before grabbing her arm, and sending her toward the ring steps. To most people, that would be a devastating move, but as we're learning, Dixie is not most people. Instead of slamming into the steps, she leaps up on top of them, and flips backwards, catching Shane with a splash, slamming him into the ground, as the crowd went wild for the move.
Dixie quickly got back to her feet, and jumped to the ring apron, where she was met by Kaboom's right hand. Dixie almost drops back off the apron, but holds onto the top rope, keeping her from falling. Kaboom grabs her, pulling her toward him, hiptossing her into the ring. Dixie lands on her back, and Kaboom drops a leg across her chest quickly. Dixie rolls away to the corner, holding her chest. Kaboom follows her, lifting her up, pushing her into the turnbuckle, before sending her across with an Irish whip. Dixie hits the corner hard, dropping out of it, face first into the mat.
On the outside of the ring, Shane got back to his feet, and started to climb the apron, but Kaboom sees him, and rushes over to him, while Dixie is on the mat. Shane catches him with a right hand as he comes in, pausing him. Shane grabs him, trying to suplex him to the outside the ring, but Kaboom blocks it. Shane tries again, but Kaboom blocks it again, and reverses the momentum. He begins to lift him up for a suplex, but at the same time, Dixie Leigh got back to her feet, and ran over to the turnbuckle, leaping to the top rope, just as Kaboom has Shane in the air. Dixie leapt off the top rope, coming down on Shane with a cross body, adding extra momentum to Kaboom's suplex.
Dixie covered Shane getting a two count, but Kaboom pulled her off of him quickly, almost missing the pinfall completely. Kaboom connects with a hard right hand to Dixie, dropping her to the mat with it. Dixie staggered back to her feet, as Kaboom comes at her with a toe kick, doubling her over. He grabs her around the waist, lifting her up, and flipping her backwards with a waistlock suplex. Kaboom back to his feet, right into a right hand by Shane. Kaboom is rocked and stumbles backwards into the ropes. Shane grabs him and whips him to the otherside. He goes for a clothesline, but Kaboom ducks it, coming up behind Shane, and spinning around, catching him with a huge discus punch that sends him spinning around. Kaboom rushes Shane, grabbing ahold of his head, and then rushing them toward the turnbuckle, before jumping up, planting his feet on, and pushing off, turning Shane along with him, sending him face first to the mat with a springboard bulldog.
The crowd was on their feet as Kaboom got to his feet. Kaboom picked up Shane off the mat, pulling him to his feet. He nailed him with a chop across his chest, not once, not twice, but three times. Shane stumbles backwards, and as soon as he did, Kaboom's spidey sense tingled as he turned around, right into a spinning toe kick by Dixie, but somehow, he ducked just as she kicked, and instead of striking him, she caught Shane instead. Shane flew backwards into the ropes, as Kaboom jumped back to his feet, catching Dixie with a huge sitout shoulder jawbreaker. Dixie falls backwards, rolling out of the ring.
Kaboom turned, seeing Shane stumbling toward him, and rushes him, turning catching him with the BadaBOOM. Kaboom turned him over and covered, hooking the leg getting the pinfall. The crowd is wild as Kaboom stood up, getting his hand raised. And he's going to need that momentum, because he's getting his rematch for the Peach State Championship next month at No Excuses, but to find out who he's facing, just keep reading.
There was a brief intermission and I went with a bag of Doritos for a snack. Not any of the fancy stuff either. Just plain ole orange cheesy Doritos. It was good. Granted, it made writing up the results that much more interesting, because now there are orange smears all over my notes. Anyway, on with the show.
We came back from the intermission with our main event, where we saw the challenger, Kimba Seanoa come to the ring first. Since his debut, Kimba has been developing more and more of a following in the Peach State Arena, and the crowd reaction he got showed just that. Pretty much the entire arena was on their feet as Kimba made his way to the ring. Well, all except three guys sitting in the front row wearing old school wrestling masks. They've been showing up since the first show, and people have started calling them the PSW Hooligans. Truthfully, they have gotten a name for themselves by kind of doing the opposite of what most wrestling fans do. So as you can imagine, they were the only ones cheering when the Peach State Champion Trenton "Live Wire" Williams made his way to the ring. Don't get me wrong. Trenton got a big reaction, it was just boos.
Trenton climbed into the ring, the belt over his shoulder. He sneers at Kimba before turning his back to him, a sure sign of disrespect. He handed the belt to Matt, but not before looking straight at Kimba, telling him that the belt is coming back to him. Kimba, all business, shakes his head with a resounding no. Matt held up the title, and then the match began.
They circled one another once around the ring, before locking horns, each grappling for position, before Kimba literally uses his brute force to throw Trenton back into the corner. The crowd pops for it as Kimba goes in for a strike, but Trenton ducks under the rope, forcing the ref to stop Kimba's movement. Kimba backs off, obeying the rules, as Trenton regroups, once again circling Kimba. They lock-up again, and once again, Kimba uses his strength to throw Trenton back into the corner, this time immediately following him in, driving two quick body blows into him. Kimba steps away and Trenton stumbles out of the corner, right into a huge headbutt by Kimba. Trenton goes down, and immediately slides out of the ring, catching his breath.
Kimba was staring at him, when his gaze looked away past Trenton and the crowd began to buzz. The reason for the distraction was Kidd Kaboom entering with a chair in hand. The crowd was cheering as Trenton turned around to see Kaboom heading down. Trenton was ready for an attack, but instead, Kaboom stops halfway to the ring and set up the chair, sitting down in it. The crowd cheers as Trenton shook his head. Trenton turned back to the ring, right into a kick by Kimba. Trenton drops backwards, and Kimba climbed out of the ring, going after Trenton. Kimba grabbed Trenton by his head, starting to lift him up, but Trenton grabbed his trunks, and dropped backwards, sending Kimba flying into the ring post head first.
Despite Kimba's hard head, Kimba dropped to his knees, as Trenton got back to his feet. He grabs Kimba and rolled him into the ring. He climbed in, and covered Kimba, but only got a two count as Kimba got a shoulder up. Trenton got up, immediately putting a boot to Kimba's head. Trenton picked Kimba up, throwing him head first into the turnbuckle. Kimba stumbled out of the corner, and Trenton whips around, driving a roaring elbow strike into Kimba's head. Kimba fell backwards into the corner, and as soon as he does, Trenton puts his boot right into his throat, choking the life out of him.
Right when Matt is about to count the five, Trenton let go, allowing for Kimba to drop out of the corner to one knee. Trenton moved around behind Kimba, and wrapped his arm around his neck, lifting him up, and then slamming him down with a cobra clutch slam. Kimba was laid flat out in the ring, and Trenton motions that it was over. He grabbed Kimba, lifting him to his feet, and then up and over his shoulders with a torture rack, before spinning him around, sending Kimba straight down, landing his head and neck onto his knee. The Career Ender. The crowd is silent as Trenton rolled Kimba over and covered, getting a three count, retaining the championship.
The crowd didn't know how to react to the loss...except for the Hooligans, who were cheering loudly. Trenton got to his feet, standing over Kimba, shaking his head, before pushing him out of the ring with his foot. Trenton raises his own hand, before the crowd goes wild, as Kid Kaboom explodes from his chair, rushing the ring. Trenton turns, rushing Kaboom, but Kaboom ducks under it, and as Trenton turns, Kaboom leaps up, grabbing Trenton, and dropping him with the BadaBOOM. Trenton snaps backwards, dropping back to the mat, laid out prone. The crowd was on their feet as Kaboom stood up, his arms raised. He looked down at Trenton and motions for the belt to be around his waist.
And next month he'll have that exact opportunity, as we're getting the rematch people wanted. Trenton Williams will defend the Peach State Championship against the man he won the title from...the first Peach State Champion...Kidd Kaboom. We will see that and much more...all at No Excuses!
I can't wait.
